Sterling’s talent goes beyond mere hair styling. He is a visionary who uses his gifts of creativity and intuitive expression to bring out the innate beauty in his clients. His talent and experience allow for him to craft the perfect look so that all who leave his chair shine with an authentic radiance that Sterling brings forth from the inside out. 

 

In 2000, Sterling worked as a mortgage broker where he felt his creative energy being stifled. This was when he made a decision that would change the rest of his life - he quit his job to enroll in the Paul Mitchell Academy. After graduating with honors, he was accepted into Cutting Loose’s protege program and worked as an apprentice in one of the top 200 hair salons in the world. His talent was quickly recognized and he was accepted into Vidal Sassoon’s Cutting Academy where he once again graduated with honors. Although he was working in an all French salon, Sterling had been trained in American, French, and British hair cutting and developed his specialty in balayage. Since then, Sterling has been invited to work on Express’ Fall Catalog Shoot and has worked for many fashion shows including Premiere in Orlando, FL and Richmond Fashion Week. 

 

Sterling is not only passionate about making people feel beautiful and confident, he feels a purpose to share his wellspring of knowledge with new stylists. He has served his community as an in salon educator for nearly 12 years, 8 of which were at Shockoe Salon, his salon in Richmond, VA. His goal is to empower new stylists with techniques that will propel their growth and success as a beautician.
